What to know about Transferring Domain Names? Print

  • 0

When transferring your domain name to our registrar, you should be aware of the following points.

  1. When we issue the transfer request to our registrar, we do NOT change the DNS servers at once. As such, your website will remain pointing to your OLD hosting server during and after the domain name transfer. If your hosting company terminates your hosting account as soon as the domain name is transferred, then please let us know BEFORE issuing the transfer request to avoid facing website downtime.

  2. To avoid mail delivery problems, we only add your domain name to our DNS right before issuing the DNS change. Some registrars, however, require that the DNS be setup with the domain name in it BEFORE requesting the DNS change. If your registrar informs you that the DNS is not resolving properly, please let us know so that we add your domain name to our DNS server.

  3. When adding your DNS to our server, we set all services (web, ftp, database and mail) to be served through our servers by default. If your website / business requires an alternative configuration, please let us know so that we modify your DNS record accordingly.
